Summer days are rich with life as the day light hours allow garden growth and harvest time for Bees. Riding my bike through the city awakens my observing eye for the beauty that surrounds.
In another garden I saw this dazzling pink burst of color. Nature's gift are bountiful. My father loved his Lilies in his garden. I planted my first one after he passed on. Every year when it's bright yellow petal's open I am reminded of him.
This hot summer's day brought with it a special gift of life. My brother brought the insect to my attention which was at the foot of the table, while visiting my Mother at her home. I had never seen such a creature before, and I was totally moved by it's presence. It looked to be a homoptera but I did not know much more than that.
It was not until we were driving down the road later that I realized it was a nymph cicada. Several years ago I picked an adult cicado up from the side of the road. It's buzzing wings tickled and I was so happy as I had always dreamed of holding a live one. Today I was blessed again, as this time to meet a Cicada in it's nymph stage. This insect lives most of it's life in the nymph stage underground feeding on the juices of roots. For me this insect represents life's magic of transformation and evolution. A powerful symbol I like to embrace along with hugging trees.
We lay our roots deep within the social strata and identify our lives in this place called home. We collect objects to express ourselves for comfort and identity.
Earlier this week I was walking with a friend and spotted this apartment with our flag hanging. Every morning when I shower to cleanse I am reminded of our countries wealth of natural resources. Gratitude is a daily ritual in my life. Sending out the love to you all where ever you happen to be on today's Canada Day celebration.
As time slips by some things don't change. Things that are essential are invisible to the eye. True friendship is like that and it can last a lifetime. My childhood friend took me away to see some forest magic that week. We were truly gifted.
Being in the woods brings a great balance to my life from the city. Change is a thing that through our life we see differently. Today I see change as energy flow. Everything is connected. It begins with the birthing, follows with the growth and then there is the decline for the awaiting end.
